Liquid dosage forms Dosage forms are essentially pharmaceutical products in the form which involves a mixture of active drug components and nondrug components (excipients). Liquid form of a dose of a drug used as a drug or medication intended for administration or consumption.
Centrifugation Process #
Centrifugation is a process that involves the use of the centrifugal force for the separation of mixtures, used in industry and in laboratory settings. The rate of centrifugation is specified by the acceleration applied to the sample, typically measured in revolutions per minute (RPM).
Distillation Process #
Distillation is the process of separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by selective boiling and condensation to increase the concentration of selected components of the mixture.
Fermentation Process #
Fermentation is a process used for cultivating micro-organisms or other organic material into important pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, therapeutic proteins, enzymes and insulin.
Formulation Process #
Pharmaceutical formulation is the multistep process where the active drug is mixed with all other components by considering the factors of particle size, polymorphism, pH, and solubility and becomes the final beneficial medicinal product.
Homogenization Process #
Similar to Mixing process but Homogenization method uses force (such as turbulence and cavitation) alongside high pressure to create a consistent and uniform sample. Because of its powerful pressure, high pressure homogenization is well-matched for both particle size reduction and cell lysis, which oftentimes requires strong pressure to disrupt cell walls.
Lyophilization Process #
Lyophilization or freeze drying is a process in which water is removed from a product after it is frozen and placed under a vacuum, allowing the ice to change directly from solid to vapor without passing through a liquid phase.
Mixing Process #
Mixing is an important part of pharmaceutical production. Operations can include dissolving solids and powders, preparing emulsions, combining raw materials, enabling chemical reactions, and milling active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), to name a few.
Reduction Process #
Reduction also known as Milling process is done to reduce particle size of solid to physically break down coarse particles to finer ones. Fine drug particulates are especially desired in formulations designed for parenteral, respiratory and transdermal use.
Spray Drying Process #
Spray drying is a method of producing a dry powder from a liquid or slurry by rapidly drying with a hot gas. This is the preferred method of drying of many thermally-sensitive materials such as foods and pharmaceuticals, or materials which may require extremely consistent, fine, particle size.
